Xiaomi Redmi 5 : Compact Powerhouse Price and Specs

Recently Xiaomi had announced its another new device known as the Redmi 5 which was earlier teased as the compact powerhouse by Xiaomi. The phone was launched a few days back and today on 20th March is its first flash sale on mi.com . The phone is exclusively available on Xiaomi's website and Amazon India. So let's go for taking a close look at the specs of this device.

Design and Build :-

Talking about the Redmi 5, it comes with an aluminium back and has an attractive look with it. The phone is available in 4 colour varients and is quite stylish to look at. Also in the front it has an 18:9 aspect ratio screen of 5.7 inch at a resolution of 1440 by 720 and a typicall MIUI 9 which is android 7.1.2 based custom UI. The phone is also having a front flash and a front camera of 5 megapixel and on the back a finger print sensor , a mi logo and a 12 mp camera. Definitely it is a best in class smartphone in a price of around $150 or Rs 7999. It has a hybrid sim slot which means you can have either a sim and SD card or two sim cards.

Software and OS:-

This is infact the most important point to note about a modern smartphone. The Redmi 5 comes with MIUI 9 out of the box and is android 7.1.2 (Nougat) based. Currently it is having a security patch of January 2018 and is expected to get Oreo update soon. The phone is quite fluid in hand and works perfectly as it is powered with Snapdragon 450 1.8 GhZ processor. Anyone can easily play Asphalt 8 or Mordern Combat 5 in this phone.Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

Varients and Pricing:-

The Redmi 5 comes in India in four colour varients with three varients for each type.
Rs 7999 - 16 GB ROM and 2GB RAM
Rs 8999-  32GB ROM and  3GB RAM (preffered)
Rs 10999-64GB ROM and  4GB RAM.
